Creating a stronger, more equitable USC
UAW Local 872 is the first-ever academic workers’ union at USC, consisting of over 3,000 Graduate Student Workers (GSWs) working as Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, Assistant Lecturers, and Fellows.
Since forming a union in February 2023, GSWs have won major improvements to our compensation and working conditions through collective bargaining — improvements that make USC’s research mission stronger and more equitable.
Our collective power to enforce our contract and to build a safe and equitable workplace comes from our ability to look out for each other and show up in solidarity with each other.
